Water is the most vital element among the natural resources and is critical for the survival of all living organisms including human, food production, and economic development (Raymond, 2016). Today there are many cities in the state of South Carolina that are dealing with polluted water. Water pollution is a serious threat to the well-being of the people and the communities they live in. Donââ¬â¢t waste time! Our writers will create an original "A Serious Threat Of Water Pollution" essay for you Create order It doesnt matter what size body of water, all bodies can in some shape be polluted. Over the past three years, South Carolina had to endure hurricanes that produced heavy rainfall and flooding. This paper will discuss a pollution issue that happened, what I would envision as a solution, what am I doing to find a solution to the problem, and if there are any obstacles or resistance to resolving the issue. The Sociology of Disasters describes the phrase natural disaster as whenever you have experienced an earthquake, flood, hurricane or a storm (Bell, 2016). Something that is out of your control. A natural disaster happens when the climate changes. South Carolina had to endure at least three natural disasters or an Acts of God this year alone mostly because of hurricanes that produced a substantial amount of rainfall. This brought about flooding to different parts of the state. The issue that I will be discussing will be in a nearby city of Conway, South Carolina where a sewage plant which handles about 4 million gallons of sewage a day flooded releasing millions of gallons of raw material in the Waccamaw River. The treatment plant was down for 24 hours before they got it up and running. The Paradigm Shift states that we are more aware now of how industrial material can affect the environment (Bell, 2016). Utility officials and South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Cont rol are not sure on the amount of material that was released without being treated. The town suffered a great deal when hurricane Florence made landfall on the South Carolina coast leaving behind a substantial amount of rainfall. Flooding was the big problem that the residents had to de al with. The flooding was so bad that had to be warned not to go into the water because of the bacteria, and industrial pollution. DHEC expected the water to be contaminated, but because of the flooding, they had to wait until the water receded. Once the water receded DHEC would run a test to see exactly how much damage was done, and what was going to be needed to help make the water safe again. Many people have never experienced a day that they couldnt drink water or walk outside your home not knowing what in the water, but when you least expected, it happens. If I had to envision a solution to the problem, it would first to become a part of an organization such as the Environmental Justice Movement to show that I am concern about pollution in our neighborhoods. Then I would mak e suggestions on buildings better buildings so that they would be able to withstand flooding. Work with engineers to come up with some ideas on building that could be built above flood level. If global climate change is whats causing these acts of god, to take place, then we need to take positive action now to slow the pace of climate change and reduce further global warming. Changing our lifestyle and our behaviors will help reduce the human impact on the environment (Negin, 2018). By reducing your personal contribution to global warming and set an example for others by using less gasoline, natural gas, oil, and electricity (especially electricity generated from coal-fired power plants) in your daily life (Negin, 2018). Renewables energy is another way I think to help with the solution, because if the climate remains stable then we wouldnt have flooding and hurricanes. I was not a part of helping with a solution to the issue, but by participatory governance, this would allow everyone to help with a solution because you would have citizens and the government working together to make a difference. We must make ourselves aware of whats going on with the environment and not leave it all to the government. I feel with everyone working together to help with changing the way we do things, then everyone can come together and help the town of Conway restore itself to what it was before hurricane Florence made it devastating impact. There was resistance in resolving the issue, A flood mitigation canal plan was presented to lawmakers over 10 years ago but was turned down because of cost. Public records show some officials feared the project would cause severe irreversible harm to wetlands, and they also worried the canal would give residents in low-lying areas a false sense of security (Perry, 2018). The only obstacles in resolving the issue were because of so much flooding volunteers had to wait a week until the water receded before they could start the cleanup. Different state agencies were able to make sure that the contamination was gone, and it was safe for people to go into the water. Several tests had to be run to make sure that all the water was safe. In conclusion, we all know how critical water is to each of us. Water pollution is a serious threat to the well-being of people and the communities they live in. If you have never given it some thought, now is a good time to think about how natural disasters affect the water in which we use as a major survival tool. By changing our lifestyles and becoming a part of an ecological society then we will become more concern with our environment. The Waccamaw River in Horry County still have a way to go but they are pulling together and making it happen. The government will continue to do what is needed to make the water is cleaned. This will continue to happen if the global climate change continues. Natural disasters are something that we cannot control but we can work on making our environment better. We must work harder in making our environment a better place to live, but first everyone in our communities must commit themselves to make changes.

Neuropsychiatric Comorbidities In Tuberous -Myassignmenthelp.Com
Question: Discuss About The Neuropsychiatric Comorbidities In Tuberous? Answer: Introduction Neuropsychiatric comorbidities is the examination process of various coexisting illness in patients with mental disorders including the behaviors they exude (Hirschtritt et al, 2015). Various conditions such as tuberos sclerosis complex (TSC), management spectrum disorders (ASD), intellectual disability etc. are in most of the cases characterized in the patients in the process. TSC formed the center of focus of study for the neuropsychiatric comorbidities in the children. In connection to that, TSC is a dominant autosomal condition that result from the transmutation of either TSC1 or TSC2 gene (De Vries et al, 2015). This study was conducted to determine the prevalence of neurological illness in children who have already been examined with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC). The investigation focused on frequencies of some of the coexisting disorders in children with TS; the disorders include ASD, ADHD and OCD. Most of the previous researches show that in the higher percentage of patie nts with TS also display characteristics of the presence of other neurological symptoms disorders. Method of data collection Data is important in making a proof of the claim valid through full leverage of the so collected data (William et al, 2016). A sample is a proportion of a population of the subject of discussion (Gelman et al, 2014). A sample is always used to give the representation of the characteristics of the entire population (Davidson et al, 2013). In this study therefore, patients diagnosed with TS was the target and from the clinic records, a sample of 67 children patients records were examined making our sample size to be (67). Though the population of children in the clinic who were examined with TS was not disclosed, the suitable sample size is supposed to cover at least 30% of the entire population (Desu, 2012). In our case healthcare, we were certain that sample size of 67 children was good enough to estimate the populations characteristics and to obtain the statistic that will suitably represent the population parameter of the neuropsychiatric comorbidities in children with TS. There ar e various methods that can be employed in the collection of data from the participants which can either be primary or secondary data collection methods (Cleary et al, 2014). In this study, the type of data collected was secondary. As a result therefore, the data was obtained through the review of the patients records in the clinic for patients who were examined with TS. Frequency tables were used in representation of data using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS). Results of the study Table 1: Demographic information of the children sampled in the clinic Variable statements Frequency Percentage Gender boy 35 52.2 girl 32 47.8 Age (Months) 15 to 45 12 17.9 46 to 75 9 13.4 76 to 105 7 10.4 106 to 135 12 17.9 136 to 165 9 13.4 166 to 195 18 26.9 Out of te childrens records checked from the clinic report of children examined with TS, 52.2% of the sample were boys while the remaining 47.8% were girls. Age was also a factor of concern that was considered and they were recorded as follows; 17.9% of those who were diagnosed to have had TS were 15 to 45 months age, 13.4% of the sample were 46 to 75 months, 10.4% from the records showed that they were 76 to 105 months, 17.9% from the clinic report records showed that the children were 106 to 135 months, as well, 13.4% of the children from the report records showed that they were 136 to 165 months and finally the children with age of 166 to 195 months were represented by 26.9% of the total sample extracted from the clinic report records Table 2: Children with Mental retardation Frequency Percent Valid Percent Cumulative Percent no 34 50.7 50.7 50.7 yes 33 49.3 49.3 100.0 Total 67 100.0 100.0 In the clinic report, the records showed that the doctors were also interested in knowing the mental retardation of the children who were diagnosed with TS. In response to that, the children who were diagnosed with TS and had no mental retardation were represented by 50.7% of the total sampled children from the clinic while on the other hand, 49.3% of the records showed the children who were diagnosed with TS and had mental retardation too. Table 6: Specific psychopathology except autism and mental retardation Frequency Percent Valid Percent Cumulative Percent no 39 58.2 58.2 58.2 internalization disorders (anxiety disorder - depression) 4 6.0 6.0 64.2 externalization disorders (adhd--behaviordis - oppositional disorder) 19 28.4 28.4 92.5 spesific learning disorders 5 7.5 7.5 100.0 Total 67 100.0 100.0 Fifty eight point two percent represented the children who had no specific psychopathology except autism and mental retardation as from the records, as 6% represented those children with internalization disorders including (anxiety disorder-depression), 28.4% from the sampled records represented children with externalization disorders (adh-behaviordis-oppositional disorder) and 7.5% represented children with specific learning disorders. Table 7: Used Psychiatric Drugs Frequency Percent Valid Percent Cumulative Percent no 55 82.1 82.1 82.1 yes 12 17.9 17.9 100.0 Total 67 100.0 100.0 Out of the patients who were diagnosed with TS in the clinic, the data from the records showed that 82.1% were not using psychiatric drugs in the management of their conditions against 17.9% of the children who had psychiatric drugs used on them to manage their conditions. Table 8: Types of Psychiatric Drugs Used Frequency Percent Valid Percent Cumulative Percent no 56 83.6 83.6 83.6 antipsychotics 7 10.4 10.4 94.0 antidepressan 4 6.0 6.0 100.0 Total 67 100.0 100.0 The hospital health practitioners were as well interested in recording the types of psychiatric drugs used on their patients, to the concern, the clinic report recorded that 83.6% of the children had no psychiatric drugs used in the management of their conditions, 10.4% represented the children whose conditions were being managed by use of antipsychotic drugs and 6% represented the children who had their conditions managed by use of antidepressant drugs. Discussion of the results Demographic data is important in almost all research activities since they help the communities in their future preparations and plans to eliminate biasness in terms of gender, age or social class in the society (Hahn et al, 2016). In this study therefore, it helped to show the extent to which boys or girls were affected with the comorbid disorders as a result of TS. In regards to gender in the demographic information, it is clear from the clinic sample that the number of boys was slightly higher than that of girls as they had small percentage margin between their percentage representations showing that both genders were prevalent to TS though with male children having the higher risk chances. Furthermore, the results from this study showed that in as much as their a belief that TS suffering patients also suffer other neurological disorders, the highest percentage from the clinic report represented by 50.7% showed that those children who were diagnosed with TS were not having mental retardation as opposed to those who showed suffering from both TS and mental retardation represented by 49.7%. With this kind of percentage from the clinic report, it can be concluded that almost half of those diagnosed with TS will as well respond positively to mental retardation. Out of the children who turned to be having mental retardation, a substantial percentage of them represented by 32.8% had their mental retardation at mild stage and therefore manageable as opposed to 9% who were at moderate and severe/heavy stages. The majority of the children from the clinic report records indicated that they were not diagnosed with ASD as represented by 80.6% against only 19.4% who were diagnosed with both TS and ASD. It is therefore and evident from this that not in all cases should patients diagnosed with TS will as well show to have ASD as there are relatively low chances of such occurrence as from the results (Wilde et al, 2018). Most of the children as displayed from the report were not taken through psychopathological process as represented by 58.2% with a relatively higher percentage of the children taken through externalization disorders psychopathology at 28.4% with some few of them taken through internalization disorders test at 6% and the rest were taken through specific learning disorder test at 7.5%. In managing the condition of the children, drugs were not used in majority of them represented by 82.1% against only 17.9% who had their conditions managed by using psychiatric drugs such as antipsychotics at 10.4% and antidepressants at 6%. From the data, the psychiatric drugs that were popularly used in the management of the childrens conditions was antipsychotics as opposed to antidepressants which were also used but not as much as compared to its counterpart. Thoughts and Feelings of Music Essay Example For Students
Thoughts and Feelings of Music Essay What does music signify in modern culture today? Is music an outlet for emotion or is it just a sound made from a speaker? According to Tyrome Bowie music is an outlet to express emotions and a source of energy to let out frustrations in the common world of life. He is a man with relentless talent and a vision shown threw his art of music. Although he is not a well-known musician he has worked with extraordinary people that some might say paved the way in the music industry. Just like a normal citizen in the world he works a nine to five job and goes out to normal restaurants to eat. We will write a custom essay on Thoughts and Feelings of Music specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Hes not a superstar or a famous songwriter for a major record company. Hes a father, a devoted husband, and a provider for his family. Music to Tyrome is a vitamin something that lifts him up when he is down and gives him the strength to go on without fear or worry. Holding on to his bass guitar like it was a part of him, like an extra extension to his heart. You could see the passion in his movements as he played a song dedicated to his wife (my Aunt) which passed away in December of last year. Most musicians play from the heart, the very soul of their emotions is expressed with every movement of the string. Thats what I could see in his eyes as he played his big bass guitar, full blown passion. Which all of this couldnt have been possible without the influence of his mother. According to him his mother gave him the support he needed to pursue his dream as a musician. She was the one that put up with the learning process, the sour notes, and the countless hours of practice. Even his son Ty Jr. wanted to learn how to play the sax due to his dads influences in music and his passion. He even made his room into a studio, rearranging his bedroom to fit a small studio in his room. This was the beginning stages of a childs dream to become something big in the world of music. Growing up listening to Stanley Clark, Marcus Miller, Victor Houden, and Bill Dickens which were all fantastic bass players he adopted the passion to be like them. Most kids at that time were into basketball, football, and baseball but he had a different sport in mind the creative art form of music. He played with many great artists including Ramsey, Steve Jennings, and a personal friend Tony Taylor. All of which werent famous musicians in our eyes but they were some of the greatest artists that influenced him to become who his is today. Theres only one instrument that he feels safe with and comfortable with playing and of course its the bass guitar. Its like a blanket to him shielding him from harm and keeping him out of the streets as he says. This instrument was not only away to escape the world it also keep him away from it as well. Without his guitar he couldve easily been drawn into the crowd of teenagers hanging outside getting into trouble. Music gave him a purpose in life and created a lifetime bond within him. When asked why the bass guitar was his favorite he stated most of the bass players in his day got the girls. Of course when you are a teenager thats what concerns us the most. Apparently in his day bass players were the ones that got all of the notice and recognition. Even with the constant distractions he still managed to practice and pursue his dreams. Over the years he has met and worked with a lot of people including Joe, R. Kelly, and Donnell Jones. Working with these various artists he was able to key in on his own unique style of music. Which he describes as a neo soul and jazz combination a perfect description of his music and style. As a child he first fell in love with the bass guitar and the deep feeling it gave when he played it. .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 , .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 .postImageUrl , .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 , .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49:hover , .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49:visited , .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49:active { border:0!important; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49:active , .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49 .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u4876556d036d407ed0ee78823def2c49:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Leonard Bernstein Biography EssayOne of the most exciting times he remembers is when he was out fishing alone on the docks. He remembers listening to the radio and hearing one of his songs being played that he produced and recorded called Mississippi. When youre in this business you make a name for yourself in various ways. He is a musician that has experienced the excitement of crowded clubs and sold out events but you would never know him, hes never been on T. V. Even though hes never had an album released or an appearance on a popular show displaying his talent as an artist. He still has worked with countless people and gave them the bass sound of his guitar in the background. This is the creative mind we never see or hear about, but he is the driving force that gives us the emotion we feel in the songs we listen to. So when you listen to your favorite artist and your favorite song remember the bass guitar playing in the background. Think of the young man with a dream to become one of the greatest musicians the world has ever seen. Support your childs dreams and aspirations, one day they might just make it in their own way.

Geology of the earth essays
Geology of the earth essays Geologists have looked at many different ways of trying to understand the internal structure of our earth, but each piece of evidence on their own is questionable. It is when geologists take all the evidence they have uncovered and put it all together that they find all the pieces of evidence relate to each other and overlap. So, even though we cannot dig deep enough to physically witness the inside of our earth, geologists have been able to provide, with evidence, what the internal structure of the earth compromises of. The Earth formed from the solar nebular (gas and dust cloud) a certain distance from the sun. The solar wind, the radiation from the sun, carried different elements, different distances from the sun, i.e. light elements like H and He get carried a long distance away, where they form the gas giants such as Jupiter etc. Heavy elements like Fe, Ni, Mg, Ca and Si didnt get blown as far away and therefore the inner planets are mostly rocky material made up of Fe, Ni, Ca and Si oxides. Continuing on from the above point, geologists can also look at the differentiation of materials in the earth. The starting chemistry of Fe, Ni, Ca and Si has been strongly affected by other processes.
